In 2008 Alejandro Robles, founder of Agua x Vida, visited Guinea Bissau for the first time and learned first-hand about the problems of the communities that live there and the challenges they must go through to obtain one of the most essential resources for life: WATER.

 

Back then, Alejandro worked for an oil company, but that didn't stop him from pursuing his dream of being able to help others. His days quickly turned into trips to keep in touch with the families who live there, and their knowledge became real and sustainable projects for the construction of water wells near the villages.

A year later, in 2009, Agua x Vida was officially founded in the city of Neuquén. But Alejandro's great step came in 2014, when with the support of his family and friends, he decided to move to Guinea Bissau to carry out the projects that he had in mind but with a clearer objective: to provide tools to communities to generate involvement. collective and that also allowed them to sustain the methodology taught over time.

Due to the knowledge acquired in the oil world and together with the work of volunteers, wells were built near the villages to avoid the long walks of children and women in search of water, implementing ecological drilling methods, which was a cheaper option.

​

In 2016, 20 water wells were built, due to the human strength of the villages, which were also given an important place with the aim of appropriating these resources and being 100% involved in each of the tasks that are carried forward.

Currently, at Agua x Vida, we continue to work with the aim of obtaining more resources to help break down the barrier that exists between these communities and access to clean water. We want to provide families with hope, health, and new opportunities for the future, promoting in them a culture of education and work.

 

We have formed a consortium of three organizations, all of which share the same goal of promoting social development in communities in Africa: Agua x Vida Association in Argentina, Agua e Fonte de Vida Association in Guinea Bissau, and GeoService as a company in Guinea Bissau.

Additionally, we will soon be working in Nigeria through Wells and Water of Life.
